Families and children in Antique rely on water from rivers, springs, wells and rainwater. Sanitation facilities are basic and open defecation is still practised as not all homes have toilets. Barangays near rivers and the coast also face frequent flooding, thus contaminating these water sources and spread diseases. The frequent occurrence of typhoons and floods can also disrupt access to clean water and sanitation. World Vision seeks to provide a clean and reliable water pipeline system for schools and residential households.
