In Muong Cha, families and children lack access to clean water and proper water storage systems at home and in schools. They mainly use untreated water from streams and ravines. Some water sources are also contaminated with limestone. Poor waste collection and treatment also results in the waste being dumped in ravines and washed into streams. The water storage containers in households are mainly old, unhygienic plastic buckets and basins. World Vision seeks to construct safe and reliable water systems with filtration in schools.
