The number one cause of illness among children in Bohol is diarrhea/gastroentertitis due to lack of access to basic safe water supply. Reduced water table levels have led to water contamination and saline intrusion. The lack of functional potable water supply in schools where students have to get water from deep well or rainwater also impacts the well-being of children in school.
